
John Gulden
John Gulden has been involved in the rugby community as a player, coach, and administrator for over 15 years. Currently, he serves as the Forward’s Rugby Coach at Pittsburgh Central Catholic High School. This past summer Gulden served as the Head Coach for the U19 Harlequins Select Side. Gulden started his rugby career at Lock Haven University where he played for four years and coached for two, in that time he served as Match Secretary, Team Captain and Head Coach for both the Women’s and Men’s Clubs respectively.
Prior to moving to Pittsburgh, Gulden was heavily involved in the rugby community as a coach and administrator at the collegiate level. Most recently he served as a Head Coach for six years at Marywood University and Adrian College. Gulden helped establish two new programs at the universities acting the head coach, director and rugby liaison. While at Marywood Gulden was named as the Assistant Coach for the Mid-Atlantic Women’s All-Star 7s team that competed in the NSCRO All-Star Championship in St. Petersburg, Florida taking 4th place. Prior to Marywood, Gulden was an Assistant Coach for over four years with the West Chester Women’s Rugby Program.
In addition to his coaching experience, Gulden served on the Board of Directors for the Mid-Atlantic Rugby Conference as the Compliance Director and was nominated as the President in 2020. Outside of his rugby experience he worked in collegiate athletics in various administrative roles including Marketing and Corporate Sponsorship, Sports Information, and Facilities Management. Gulden received his Masters in Public Administration with a focus in Sports Management and Athletics from West Chester University and his Bachelors in Sports Administration from Lock Haven University.
