Quins End Season on High Note at Schuylkill River |
The Quins traveled by luxury motor coach to Philadelphia looking to end the season strong by winning the final two, and three of their final four league games. They arrived to find fine weather for late November, but standing water and deep mud throughout the pitch, which was reminiscent of lower Frick Park after heavy rains, especially the smell. A large number of family, friends, and displaced Quins, including John Rooney and little John, Jeff Schmidt, Stoner, and Brian Beauregard helped to fill the sidelines and make it feel like a home game. |

Following days of heavy rains, Harlequin Homecoming Weekend looked in jeopardy, until Wes Wietzel stepped up and offered Deer Creek Field to host the Old Boys Game. A great showing of 40 Old Boys, 28 looking to kit up, showed up, and its was a good thing, as only a handful of visitors showed up, led by City's Rob Blackmore. After a few minutes of confusion, coach Wally split the group into two fairly even teams. The Quads scored early, then Brian Vahosky touched down twice for the Blacks, with Miles Lowey adding a penalty and conversion. Sione Tapu scored with 5 minutes left to bring the score to 13-10 (4 point tries, of course) but last minute heroics were denied. The injury list was fairly short, with Gumby getting a couple sutures, Jarhead yanking his groin, and Grunster having his arm repaired by a Tongan Witch Doctor. Pencil Bob refereed with a special combination of rules patched together from the past decade, while keeping it fun for everyone. Squish, Jarhead, Miles, and Wezz rose their record to 4-0 in Old Boys matches. |

Quins Edged 16-13 By Maryland Exiles |
The Quins traveled to Bethesda short a few regulars due to the G-20 duty and family obligations, but their numbers were boosted by Shane, a local college player looking for a game on an off Saturday, and new Quin Marlon. They were met with a pitch with 3 meter try zones, and a fence at the back of one of them; an entire baseball dirt infield took up 1/3 of the field, and rain came 20 minutes in to complete the fun. |
