Quins Win at Home

IMG_0092For those unable to come out to beautiful Founders Field Saturday- The Harlequins won their second in as many games this spring.  Potomac took the early lead 3-0 on a penalty kick…the last lead the visitors would hold on the day.

DSC_0098What followed was a back and forth scoring of try’s-  it wasn’t long before the Quins scored twice to go up 12-3,  and potomac finished out the half with a converted try to go into the lockers ahead 12-10.

DSC_0060The 2nd half was more of the same- excellent defense in Pittsburgh’s backline, and Potomac capitalizing on extensive calls against the home team.  Pittsburgh scored 7 minutes into the half and after the converted kick led 19-10.  Both teams were able to find the try zone again, but the Harlequins tight-head, Jake Smith, piled over the line giving the edge to the Quins.  

The match ended with the Quins sweeping the home & away series, final score 24-20.

IMG_0088The day did not end there- as the Harlequin B-side took on St. Francis University for a great team run against an eager college side.  With the Quins filling out the guests ranks, both teams were able to get valuable experience on the field.

All players and guests were invited upstairs at the conclusion of the on-field play for a pig roast sponsored by Friendly Islander Landscaping and presented by our islander friends from Tonga, Fiji, and Samoa.  The assembled 200 guests ate well- something all guests to Founders Field will find happens every time the Harlequins play at home!

The Harlequins take on the Schuylkill River Exiles on April 9th, 1:00pm at Founders Field.
