Quins Head to Philly

19rocky1.600The Pittsburgh Harlequins travel this weekend to Philadelphia to meat the Schuylkill River Rugby Club.  Schuylkill is currently third in League standings, 5 points ahead of the rising Harlequins.  The Harlequins have won their last two, and take to the road this weekend looking for a third to pull them into the upper half of the playoff standings.  Schuylkill, with a record of 3-1, has scored a total of 145 points in their 4 games, which is the highest offensive performance in the league- which shows in the three bonus points they have earned through try scoring.  The Harlequins have two bonus points, and are coming on strong as shown by having put up 46 points last weekend against visiting Potomac Athletic Club.

This weekends matchup would typically be the clubs “Pelly Cup” matchup, but with the new league setup of playing home/away against each team, it is still being decided which fixture will be designated for “Cup” play. The Pelly Cup is played as a tribute and remembrance of Eric Pelly, the Harlequin Club member who passed away suddenly on October 10th, 2006.

The next home game is scheduled for 1:00pm at Founders Field against the Raleigh Vipers Rugby Club.  Games at Founders Field are free, open to the public, and family friendly.
