PA State High School Championships this Weekend

Rugby Pennsylvania will be holding the third annual State High School Rugby championships in Pittsburgh this weekend. The event will be hosted at “The Pittsburgh Harlequins Center for Athletics and Leadership”- (Founders Field).

Teams will compete in three Divisions- High School Boys, High School Girls, and Boys Club (multiple high school representation on one team). Pittsburgh teams that have advanced to the semi-final round are Burrell High School, competing in the Single High School division; and South Hills Fatheads Rugby, competing in the “club” division. Fox Chapel Girls advanced to the Quarterfinals last weekend but did not advance.

Al Russo, Board President of the Harlequin’s Association, commented “This is a great honor to be able to host this statewide event. Bringing the top High School athletes in Pennsylvania to compete at the premier facility in the country, and the only rugby specific venue in the state befits the effort the teams have given to advance to this level.”
