BOULDER, Colo. – The Emirates Airline USA Rugby National Championship Series rolls into the Men’s Club Playoffs starting May 12th.

Divisions I, II, and III have all qualified their pool of the top 16 teams in the country. The Eastern teams will converge on Founders Field in Pittsburgh PA, home of the Pittsburgh Harlequins. Western teams will compete at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California.

The DI playoffs will provide some intriguing matchups right off the bat in the round of 16. In Pittsburgh, The Chicago Lions and Boston Irish Wolfhounds will square off in a battle between two teams who have recently stepped down from the Super League.

In the San Diego side of the DI bracket, the fireworks will fly when Glendale and Santa Monica take the field. Glendale, the defending DI National Champion is oozing with talent again this year, but seem to have not yet realized their potential. The Santa Monica Dolphins are no strangers to playoff rugby either, and recently logged an impressive 36-24 victory over the Utah Brothers on the road in Park City to make the round of 16.

In the DII bracket, Wilmington will look to continue their winning ways. In the qualifying rounds they squared off against Doylestown, and it took them two overtime periods to come out the victors. Wilmington will meet Charleston who comes to the round of 16 having lost to Naples in the South Final.

Out west, perennial powerhouse the Snake River Snakes may have their hands full when they face Pasadena, a Cinderella story of sorts in this years playoffs, but still no stranger to post season play.

The New Orleans Rugby Club enters the DIII bracket signaling the strength and vitality overall of the club. The NOALA DI team won the DII National Championship last year, and moved up to DI. Without missing a beat, NOLA’s DI side powered their way to some impressive victories, just missing out on the round of 16 having lost to the Chicago Lions. Can NOLA’s DII side keep the momentum going? They will open agains Virginia in Pittsburgh.

Following the round of 16, the Men’s Club Championships will take place at Infinity Park in Glendale, Colorado on June 2-3.  Full broadcast details are still TBD, however Fox Soccer Plus is slated to broadcast the DI Simi-Finals, as well as the DII Final on tape delay.
