MARFU Week 7 Recap

On October 20th The Pittsburgh Harlequins travelled to Washington DC to compete with the current top dog in the Mid-Atlantic- The Potomac Athletic Club.  Although the Quins created plenty of opportunities, including tries by Mike Wilk and Ben Paul; they were unable to put up enough points to take out the host club, falling short 17-31.

Ben Paul breaks the PAC defense for a Try.The Harlequins are going into their second bye week firmly in contention for a playoff spot at 4-2, looking to close out the final three games of the season strong and position themselves for home field advantage in the Spring.

Elsewhere in the Mid Atlantic, The Exiles struggled against last placeWashington- a team that has some athletes, but hasn’t found their stride this season.  The Exiles take the win and hang on to second place in the league.

Baltimore hosted Norfolk in a shootout; the home team coming out on top 42-35.  With the win Baltimore keeps their playoff hopes alive, and all but guarantees Norfolk will stay home this spring.

Media travelled to Schuylkill River in a contest that held no surprises, the visitors losing 27-5.  Media remains winless, and Schuylkill puts themselves in the hunt for a playoff spot- especially with this weekends game against NOVA.  NOVA currently holds the final playoff spot, but a win by Schuylkill will reverse those standings and have NOVA on the outside looking in.

Raleigh is also contending for the fourth playoff spot, and although they had a bye weekend this week, they must travel to Washington to play PAC on the 27th, and it is unlikely they improve their position this week.
