Hazelwood Travels to Braddock

An action shot of a youth rugby event in Braddock, PA, organized by the Pittsburgh HarlequinsThe Braddock Youth Rugby Program hosted Hazelwood Wednesday in games that were bookended by passing thunderstorms.  Braddock, uncharacteristically light on the sidelines, got out to a good start and showed decent determination and were tied 1-1 with only a few minutes left in the first half.  Hazelwood showed their athleticism and took advantage of some miscommunication on the defense, and ended the half up two tries.  The second half continued the run by Hazelwood, as Braddock created plenty ‘teachable moments’.

Not to be pushed around, Braddock rallied in the second match, with no substitutions.  Although the visiting team created more opportunities to score, the home team kept their heads up and played until the final whistle.  Handshakes and a mad dash to eat enough Pizza for a small country, and both teams boarded their busses for the short rides home.

Elsewhere Garfield travelled to Larimer for their next to the last game of the regular season.  Garfield came out on top in the first game, with Larimer winning the second.
