Around the League

The Pittsburgh Harlequins spent their bye week watching rugby both here in the States as well as the other side of the world in the Rugby World Cup Semi-Finals.

The Quins take on Potomac Athletic Club (PAC) this Saturday at Founders Field. The game will split up the 3 way points tie for first place. Forecast is for beautiful rugby weather- 56 degrees and Sunny. Kickoff is at 1:00pm.

Potomac spent the weekend at home on the Washington Mall hosting Media RFC. PAC continued to look solid, as the newest return to the Mid-Atlantic Division 1, with a decisive win 32-7. PAC had been competing in the Super League, a premier division including 16 of the top teams in the country, until deciding last fall to leave that competition.

Also in the Nationals Capital, NOVA hosted fellow beltway team Maryland Exiles. NOVA took the day in possibly one of the lowest scoring games of the season, beating the Exiles 8-5.

Elsewhere in the league, Schuylkill River Exiles travelled to Baltimore hoping to put some breathing room between themselves and the Baltimore Brumbies. In a close game with both teams not short on offense, the Brumbies were able to hold off the visitors 38-32. The two teams are now tied for fourth place with Baltimore having the edge on overall point differential.

321 miles south of Baltimore in Raleigh, Washington was looking for their first win against Raleigh- also in the same winless position. In a game with both teams lagging in defense, the Raleigh Vipers were able to cross the goal line a total of 12 times on the day, jumping ahead of Washington in the standings with a 66-34 win.
